Summary

When a Review is closed and the original Moderator’s user account has been deactivated, teams may still need to reopen the review and change/update the moderator(s) so the review can be managed going forward. This can be done by reopening the review and using the Update Moderators option to assign an active user as the new moderator.

Resolution

The instructions are provided below.

  1. Locate the closed review

    • Go to Review Center and find the review that is in a Closed/Completed state.
  2. Reopen the review

    • Use the Reopen action (commonly shown as a green arrow icon in the review list Actions column) to reopen the closed review and set a new deadline if prompted.

  3. Update the moderator(s)

    • Open the review and use the Update Moderators option to replace the deactivated moderator with an active user account.

  4. Important note about notifications (expected behavior)

Reopening a review does not send email notifications to participants. Participants are notified when a new revision is published (and also when a review is closed). This is intentional/by design. If you need participants to be alerted after reopening, publish a new revision once changes are ready for feedback.
