- Jama Connect® version(s) 9.29+
- Cloud/CVC
- Self-hosted
- Jama Connect Interchange™
Summary
Users may encounter server errors such as:
- “Location not found.”
- “Server Error”
- “Failed to retrieve Jama baselines.”
These errors occur when attempting to load conversations in JCI and indicate issues with API access due to licensing requirements.
Cause
The primary cause is a change in licensing requirements for accessing the REST API starting with Jama Connect version 9.29. Users must have a Named Creator License to access the API. This includes JCI service accounts. Users without the appropriate license will encounter errors when retrieving Jama Connect items via Jama Connect Interchange.
Resolution
- Verify that the affected user has a Named Creator License.
- Assign or update licenses for any users who require API access.
- Confirm that JCI service accounts also have the appropriate license to ensure uninterrupted API functionality.
Prevention
- Ensure all users requiring API access are assigned a Named Creator License.
- Regularly review licensing requirements with every software update to prevent similar issues.
IMPORTANT: Access to the REST API is limited to users with a Named Creator Jama Connect license, including access to v1, labs, and SCIM endpoints. Users without a Named Creator Jama Connect license, including those with a Creator Float License, do not have access.
