Summary
This article explains how to configure OAuth credentials for the Jama Connector in Jama Connect Interchange™ (JCI). Using OAuth instead of Basic Authentication (Username + Password) ensures connector uptime, prevents accidental lockouts caused by credential updates, and avoids authentication failures that could disrupt integrations. By following these steps, admins will maintain a reliable connection between Jama Connect and JCI.
Resolution
Step 1: Generate OAuth Credentials in Jama Connect
- Log in to Jama Connect as the JCI user.
- Navigate to the user profile.
- Select Set API Credentials.
- Enter a descriptive name for the new credentials.
- Click Create API Credentials.
- Copy both the Client ID and Client Secret.
- Important: The Client Secret is displayed only once. Securely store it immediately.
Step 2: Configure OAuth in Jama Connect Interchange
- Log in to Jama Connect Interchange with an admin account.
- Navigate to the Connector tab and click Add Connector.
- In the Add Connector screen:
- Select Jama Connect as the integration.
- Set Authentication Type to OAuth.
- Enter the Client ID and Client Secret generated in Step 1.
- Click Save to complete the configuration.
Best Practices
- Always store the Client Secret securely; it cannot be retrieved once created.
- Use descriptive names for credentials to easily identify them.
- Test the connector immediately to confirm authentication and connectivity.
- Monitor connector logs for any authentication errors.
