Summary
This article answers frequently asked questions about the Jama Validation Kit (JVK), including what it contains, how to purchase and access it, and how it helps customers validate Jama Connect® for their intended use.
It also explains the distinction between Jama Software's release verification activities and customer-specific validation responsibilities, including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).
Important Access Update — November 6, 2026
Beginning November 6, 2026, JVK and Functional Safety Kit (FSK) documentation and resources will be accessible through dedicated, secure SharePoint locations rather than the Jama Software Community.
Access remains restricted to customers with the applicable purchased entitlement and an authorized account. A Jama Software Support Portal account alone does not grant access to these licensed resources.
Resolution
1. Does Jama Software validate Jama Connect® before release?
Yes. Each supported version of Jama Connect® undergoes validation prior to commercial release. Jama Software certifies applicable releases through its Notified Body, TÜV SÜD.
2. Does Jama Software provide tools to help customers validate their configuration?
Yes. The Jama Validation Kit (JVK) provides documentation and test artifacts to help customers validate their specific configuration and intended use of Jama Connect®.
The JVK supports customer validation activities but does not replace the need for customers to validate their own configurations, workflows, integrations, and customizations.
3. What is included in the Jama Validation Kit (JVK)?
The JVK includes the following artifacts:
- Installation Qualification (IQ) Report (cloud-based customers only)
- TÜV SÜD certificate and report
- Process documentation
- Critical workflows (Safety Manual)
- Performance Qualification (PQ) report
- Importable core workflows and test cases
- PQ testing details
- Team coverage report
- Test case comparison report
- Known defects list
Note: JVK documentation and resources are available via a dedicated, secure SharePoint site. The previous Jama Software Community location will no longer be used after November 6, 2026.
4. How do I purchase and obtain access to the JVK?
- Contact your Jama Software Customer Success Manager (CSM) to request a quote for the Jama Validation Kit.
- Complete the applicable purchasing process.
- Jama Software will coordinate access for authorized users associated with your organization's purchased entitlement.
- Once access is provisioned, open the dedicated JVK SharePoint location.
- Sign in using the account authorized to access your organization's licensed resources.
- Download the applicable JVK documentation and validation artifacts.
Important: Access is restricted to customers who have purchased a JVK entitlement. Creating a Jama Software Support Portal account does not automatically provide access to the JVK SharePoint location.
5. Where can I access my purchased JVK or FSK resources?
Beginning November 6, 2026, licensed resources will be available through the following dedicated SharePoint locations:
Jama Validation Kit (JVK)
Access JVK Resources
Functional Safety Kit (FSK)
Access FSK Resources
To access your resources:
- Open the applicable SharePoint location.
- Sign in using your authorized account.
- Locate and download the resources associated with your purchased entitlement.
- Update any saved bookmarks to point directly to the new SharePoint location.
Note: JVK and FSK are separately licensed resources. Access to one does not automatically grant access to the other.
6. What should I do if I cannot access the JVK or FSK SharePoint location?
If you encounter a permissions error or cannot access your purchased resources:
- Confirm that your organization has purchased the applicable JVK or FSK entitlement.
- Verify that you are signing in with the account authorized to access the resources.
- If access is still unavailable, contact your Jama Software Customer Success Manager.
Your CSM can help review your organization's entitlement and coordinate access or updates to authorized users.
Note: A Support Portal account alone does not grant access to JVK or FSK resources.
7. How do I use the JVK after gaining access?
- Open the dedicated JVK SharePoint location and download the applicable Importable Core Workflows and Test Cases file.
- Follow the instructions provided within the file to import the test cases into your Jama Connect® instance.
- Execute the test cases as part of your organization's validation process.
- Document objective evidence of the test results in accordance with your organization's validation procedures.
8. If I purchase the JVK, do I still need to validate my Jama Connect® instance?
Yes. Regulatory requirements applicable to your organization may require software to be validated for its intended use.
This includes evaluating configurations, workflows, integrations, and customizations within your specific Jama Connect® environment.
The JVK supports your validation activities but does not relieve your organization of responsibility for validating the system in its configured state.
9. What is required for Jama Connect® to be fully validated?
Validation typically includes three phases with documented objective evidence:
- Installation Qualification (IQ) — Completed by Jama Software for cloud-hosted environments or by the customer for self-hosted environments.
- Operational Qualification (OQ) — Completed by Jama Software as part of its release validation activities.
- Performance Qualification (PQ) — Completed by the customer to confirm the system performs as intended within its specific environment and business processes.
Customers are responsible for determining and documenting the validation activities necessary to satisfy their applicable regulatory and organizational requirements.
10. Are integrations such as Jama Connect Interchange™ or Planview covered in the JVK?
No. While integrations such as Jama Connect Interchange™ are tested prior to release, the JVK does not cover customer-specific integration configurations.
Due to variability in environment setup, integration behavior, and workflow customization, customers must validate integrations as part of their own Performance Qualification activities.
