Summary

The Excel Functions module allows users to leverage Microsoft Excel functions within Jama Connect Interchange™.

When a user enters data in Jama Connect:

  1. The entered values are sent to a configured Excel template.
  2. A function or calculation is executed in Excel.
  3. The resulting value is returned and automatically entered into another read-only field in Jama Connect, as specified in the configuration.

NOTE: The module uses the Excel SDK (Apache POI 5.2.3) to execute functions in memory.

  • Functions that reference Excel macros or tables are not currently supported.
  • For details on supported Excel functions, refer to the Apache POI website.

Step 1: Access the Easy Start Guide

  • The attached JCI Excel Functions Easy Start Guide provides step-by-step instructions.

Step 2: Use the Provided Templates

  • Utilize the attached Excel templates to configure your functions.
  • Map input and output fields in Jama Connect to the corresponding Excel fields.

Step 3: Validate Function Execution

  • Enter sample data in Jama Connect.
  • Confirm that calculated values are returned correctly to the specified read-only fields.
  • Resolve any errors by checking formulas or field mappings in the template.
