Summary
Jama Connect Interchange Excel Function POC Failure – Large Excel Template File Issue
During a proof-of-concept, Jama Connect Interchange could not fetch an attached Excel template and displayed:
“Failed to retrieve Excel template file on Jama item VARIABLE-CMP-1.”
Resolution
Jama Connect Interchange reliably processes Excel templates only when the workbook is kept lean — avoid entire-column formulas, hidden sheets, and tens-of-thousands of rows. Trim the template before attaching; re-test with a reduced file to confirm the mapping UI loads and Preview/Commit completes.
