Summary

This article explains whether opening multiple browser tabs in Jama Connect® creates multiple user sessions and outlines best practices for using Jama Connect efficiently in multi-tab workflows.

Some users may open Jama Connect in multiple browser tabs while working on different items and wonder whether this behavior creates multiple active sessions or affects system performance.

Resolution

Opening multiple tabs within the same browser session does not create multiple user sessions in Jama Connect®. The application maintains a single authenticated session per user per browser session.

However, using multiple browser tabs is not recommended because it can lead to unexpected behavior, including:

  • Data is not saving correctly or failing to save
  • Features not loading or opening properly
  • UI displaying outdated or inconsistent information

Best Practice

To ensure optimal performance and avoid data inconsistencies:

  • Use Jama Connect’s in-app tabs for multitasking instead of browser tabs
  • Avoid duplicating the same record across multiple browser tabs
  • Refresh your view when switching between critical workflows if needed
