Summary

You want to replace a specific word or phrase across multiple items in Jama Connect®. Is there a simple way to perform a “find and replace”?

Best Practice

The most reliable method for finding and replacing multiple occurrences of a word or phrase in Jama Connect® is to use the roundtrip export/import process. Export the data to Excel, perform the “find and replace” there, and then import the updated file back into Jama Connect®.

Resolution

1. Roundtrip export to Excel: Export the relevant item type(s) from Jama Connect® to Excel using roundtrip report.

   

2. Find and Replace: Use Excel’s “Find and Replace” feature to update the desired words or phrases in bulk.
3. Use roundtrip import from Excel: Import the updated Excel file back into Jama Connect® to apply the changes.

Note: This process works one item type at a time, as each import operation can only handle a single item type.
