Summary
Configure Jama Connect® to generate a Configuration Item & Status Report required by industry standards such as Automotive SPICE, CMMI, and SEBoK.
This report provides a complete snapshot of all Configuration Items (CIs)—including their metadata, versions, statuses, and change history — to track compliance, status, and project health.
Resolution
- Ensure all Configuration Items are properly identified and flagged in Jama Connect® as CIs before generating the report.
- Maintain up-to-date CI metadata fields, including CI Name, CI Description, CI Type, Author, Approver(s), Version, Document Status, and Change History.
- Use baselines to generate status reports aligned with project milestones or gates.
Configuration
- Update Set item type with required fields (Configuration Item, CI Type, Version)
- Add 'CI Flag' and 'CI Status' picklists to data model.

Implementation Steps
Step 1: Identify Configuration Items (CIs)
- Find the Sets in Jama Connect® that meet your Configuration Item criteria.
- Mark the applicable Set’s “Configuration Item” field as Yes.
- Fill in the fields for each CI: Name, Description, CI Type, Author, Approver(s), Version, Change History and Status.
Step 2: Update CI Status at Milestones
- At project milestones, check and update the CI fields (Author, Approver(s), Version, Document Status, and Change History) to reflect their current status and details.
Step 3: Generate the Report
- In Jama Connect, go to the reports section.
- Choose the “Configuration Item & Status Report” template.

Check “Include Only Marked CIs” to report only flagged items, Configuration Items.
- Optionally enter a Baseline ID in the provided text field to generate the report for a specific baseline only.
- Enter a meaningful Report Title in the provided text field (e.g., "CI Status Report – SW Release R110)
- Generate and download the report.
