Summary

This article explains what happens when a user is @mentioned in Jama Connect® using an email address that is not associated with an existing user account.

When this occurs, Jama Connect automatically provisions a temporary user account with limited access. This allows the mentioned person to view the item and engage minimally for a short period before access expires.

Solution

Understand Temporary User Provisioning

When a non-user is @mentioned using their email address, Jama Connect automatically creates a temporary user account. This account is assigned a temporary license that grants limited access.

Temporary License Behavior

The temporary license allows the user to view the item in which they were mentioned and interact in a limited capacity. This access is valid for 30 days.

Access Expiration

After 30 days, the temporary license is automatically deactivated unless action is taken by an administrator.

Assign a Permanent License

If continued access is required, an administrator can update the user’s license type. This may include assigning a stakeholder license or another appropriate license based on the user’s needs.

By understanding how temporary access works, administrators can ensure that external collaborators maintain appropriate access without interruptions.
