Summary

When initiating a project reindex in Jama Connect®, the number of items to be indexed displayed in the reindex popup may be significantly higher than the Total items in this project count displayed on the Project Dashboard.

This difference is expected because the two values measure different things.

The Project Dashboard reports the number of active items contained within the project.

The reindex popup represents the approximate number of records that the indexing process needs to process when rebuilding the project's search indexes. In addition to project items, this can include other types of project-related records, such as comments, event history, item revisions, user revisions, and reviews.

As a result, the number displayed in the reindex popup should not be interpreted as the number of items contained within the project.

Resolution

No action is required solely because the reindex count is higher than the Project Dashboard item count. The difference between these values is expected due to how each count is calculated.
