Summary
When populating date fields into Jama Connect using Jama Connect Interchange, users may see the following error in the logs:
“Unable to parse string as ISO 8601 date”
This error occurs when Excel provides a date value that Jama Connect cannot interpret as a valid date for a date-type field.
This article explains how to populate date fields successfully.
Resolution
Populate date fields using the DATE function in Excel, using the format:
=DATE(Year,Month,Day)This will convert the date into an acceptable format for populating the date field type in Jama Connect.
If the desired date is already present as text in Excel, it needs to be parsed to use the DATE function with the proper inputs.
Example:
The Excel functions already calculate the desired date in the format "2027-10-29". Excel needs to parse this into the year, month, and day, so that the DATE function can have the proper inputs.
