  • Jama Connect Interchange™ (JCI)

Summary

Beginning with the Jama Connect 9.29 Cloud release (and 9.28.x for Self-Hosted and Customer Validated Cloud), access to the Connect REST API is now restricted to users with a Named Creator license.

Any user without a Named Creator license, including those with a Floating Creator license, will be denied access.

This change affects Jama Connect Interchange™ (JCI) integrations that use connectors configured with Floating Creator licenses. After the release, affected integrations will pause, and error messages will appear in the integration logs.

This article explains how to update your Jama Connect connectors to use a Named Creator license, ensuring uninterrupted API access and integration functionality.

Resolution

Step 1: Verify Permissions

  • Ensure you have organization or user admin permissions in Jama Connect before proceeding.

Step 2: Access Users in Jama Connect

  1. Log in to Jama Connect.
  2. Navigate to ADMIN > Organization.
  3. Select Users to display the list of active users.

Step 3: Update License Type

  1. Locate the user account currently used by your Jama Connect connector in Interchange.
  2. Click Edit in the Action column for that user.
  3. In the License Type field, select Creator (Named Creator license).
  4. Click Save to apply the changes.

Step 4: Verify Integration

  • Confirm that the JCI connector can authenticate and resume operations without errors.
  • Check integration logs for any remaining authentication errors.

Impact / Notes

  • Who is affected? Jama Connect Interchange™ customers whose Jama Connect connectors are configured with a Floating Creator license.
  • What happens if not updated? Integrations will pause, and error messages will appear in JCI logs.
  • Best practice: After major Jama Connect releases affecting REST API licensing, always verify that connectors are using a Named Creator license.

How to Update Jama Connect Connectors to use a Named Creator license:

Note: You must have organization or user admin permissions in Jama Connect to complete this task.

  1. In Jama Connect, select ADMIN > Organization, then select Users to display a list of active users.
  2. Locate the user account with which your Jama Connect connector in Interchange is configured.
  3. Select Edit in the Action column of the user you want to edit.
  4. In the License type field, select Creator.
  5. Select Save.

    Your changes are saved.

IMPORTANT: Access to the REST API is limited to users with a Named Creator Jama Connect license, including access to v1, labs, and SCIM endpoints. Users without a Named Creator Jama Connect license, including those with a Creator Float License, do not have access.
