Jama Connect® v9.41

Jama Intelligence™

Jama Intelligence launches in version 9.41 as Jama Software’s AI offering for teams using Jama Connect. It combines purpose-built, AI-powered workflows embedded in Jama Connect for defined requirements and quality tasks with the conversational Jama Intelligence Assistant. Over time, Jama Intelligence will replace Jama Connect Advisor.

Jama Intelligence Assistant

The Jama Intelligence Assistant helps you find information, create content, and get product guidance through natural-language conversation.

  • Search and query — Ask the Assistant to find and explain accessible Jama Connect information. Search for items, projects, categories, releases, filters, baselines, relationships, and Activity Stream entries. Use it to summarize items, analyze requirement content, review dashboard information, and identify traceability gaps.
  • Generate, create, and edit — Ask the Assistant to suggest content or add items, components, sets, folders, baselines, releases, and relationships in supported project locations. Before making changes, it validates project structure, permissions, item types, and relationship rules. It presents proposed actions for your review and requires confirmation before applying them.
  • Get help — Ask questions about Jama Connect features, terminology, and common workflows. The Assistant uses product guidance to provide concise answers, recommendations, and writing support without changing your content.

The Jama Intelligence Assistant window can be resized to provide more workspace. You can move the launcher, recall your last prompt with the Up Arrow key, and review and edit proposed content directly in the conversation window.

Note: AI-generated responses can contain inaccurate information. Review suggested content and actions before applying them.

Admin AI Consumption Dashboard

Organization admins can now monitor their purchased Jama Intelligence AI usage and authorized overages from Admin > Jama Intelligence > AI consumption. The dashboard shows annual credits used and remaining, authorized overage usage, and the organization’s AI usage policy, including its credit budget, budget period, and reset date.

Admins can also review usage for a selected tracking period by user and AI activity, including the number of actions and credits consumed. The can set a monthly overage credit cap to help manage usage.

Example: This dashboard shows what an organization admin sees after the included annual credit budget is exhausted and authorized overage billing begins.

Live Compliance

This release introduces Live Compliance, a new capability that integrates compliance activities into the day-to-day product development and review process. You can manage regulatory, quality, and internal-process compliance alongside your existing requirements and validation work in Jama Connect.

Create configurable checklists for regulatory standards, quality processes, or internal policies, then group related checklists into reusable compliance frameworks. These frameworks help teams apply consistent compliance across projects and reviews.

During reviews, participants can complete checklist questions and, when configured, add notes to support their responses. This process creates a structured, auditable record of compliance activities and reduces reliance on separate spreadsheets, documents, and manual tracking.

The new Live Compliance dashboard provides a current view of compliance status across reviews and checklists. Compliance teams, engineering leaders, and auditors can monitor progress, identify incomplete or noncompliant work earlier, and gather supporting evidence more efficiently.

By surfacing compliance gaps during development, Live Compliance can reduce late-stage rework, certification delays, and audit preparation effort.

New permission controls help organizations manage who can create and administer project-level or global checklists and frameworks, participate in compliance reviews, and view dashboard results. Access depends on each users’ project access and applicable licensing.

Updated to Categories

Create Nested Categories

Organization admins can now create nested categories to organize content in a clear, hierarchical structure.

Configure Item Versioning for Category Management

Organization admins can now configure items to create a new version when categories are changed.

Note: This new option can only be enabled when "Allow management for locked items" is not enabled.

Reuse and Sync Categories

Category Sync is now available in Full Item Sync, Field-Level Sync, and Item Type Advanced Reuse.

Category differences appear in Detailed Comparison and contribute to the Out-of-Sync status. When you select Category Sync, categories in the target project are updated to match the source, including removing categories that are no longer present.

Existing requirements for synchronization eligibility, branches, organizations, and persistence modes continue to apply.

Project-Level Category Management

Project admins can now create and manage categories in individual projects without requiring assistance from organization admins.

REST API Performance Improvements

Several REST API operations now provide faster response times and greater reliability for high-volume integrations. These improvements deliver more consistent performance when working with large datasets or making frequent API requests.

The optimized endpoints include:

GET /rest/v1/abstractitems
GET /rest/v1/activities
GET /rest/v1/attachments/{attachmentId}/comments
GET /rest/v1/attachments/{attachmentId}/versions/{versionNum}
GET /rest/v1/baseline/{baselineId}/versioneditems/{itemId}
GET /rest/v1/baselines
GET /rest/v1/comments
GET /rest/v1/items
GET /rest/v1/items/{itemId}/activities
GET /rest/v1/itemtypes
GET /rest/v1/relationshiprulesets
GET /rest/labs/reviews/{reviewId}/comments
GET /rest/v1/testcycles/{id}/testruns
GET /rest/v1/testcycles/{testCycleId}
GET /rest/v1/testruns
GET /rest/v1/usergroups/{id}/users

Configurable REST API Pagination Limits

A new Root Admin setting controls the REST API pagination limit for each tenant, with a maximum of 250 items per page. This flexibility helps you align API response sizes with your integration and performance needs.

For cloud-hosted deployments, contact Jama Software Support to update the setting.

New Look — Navigation Bar

The global navigation header now has a new, modernized look and feel.
