Jama Connect® v9.41.2

Traceability Enhancements

Traceability features now provide more flexible ways to edit items, explore relationships, and assess coverage. Updates include Trace View and Trace View Canvas, customizable Live Trace Explorer diagrams, improved Traceability Information Model views, and enhanced Trace View exports.

Edit Items in Trace View

You can now edit items directly in Trace View. When you select an item, a slide-out panel displays the available fields for that item. You can update the fields and save your changes without leaving Trace View.

Trace View Canvas (Beta)

Trace View Canvas provides an interactive graph for exploring item relationships. It displays a selected item and its upstream and downstream relationships as connected cards, helping you understand relationship structures and identify coverage issues.

With Trace View Canvas, you can:

  • Pan and zoom the canvas.
  • Preview items using their document keys.
  • Identify suspect relationships and missing upstream or downstream coverage using status icons.
  • Use relationship counts to find additional connections.

Export Trace View with double-byte characters

Trace View now supports exporting double-byte characters.

Live Trace Explorer — Custom Diagrams

You can now customize Live Trace Explorer diagrams by selecting which tiles to include and their order of appearance. Teams can create subsystem-specific diagrams that highlight coverage gaps, risks, and dependencies, making it easier to assess coverage and focus on actionable issues.

Updates to Reviews

You can now quickly search, filter, and manage reviews at enterprise scale, making it easier to locate reviews, monitor progress across concurrent activities, and drive reviews to completion without time-consuming manual workarounds or performance-impacting reports.

  • A new column that identifies the review type: Peer or Approval

    06.png
  • Search and filter options for each column.

    07.png
  • The Grid View has been replaced with an updated Table View.

    08.png
  • A "Revision requested" status now appears in the My Progress column when you select it as a filter option.

    09.png
  • Finalizing a review now prevents approval of outdated content. If reviewed items are no longer current, the moderator must create a new revision before proceeding.
  • A baseline is automatically created when a review is finalized. The baseline captures the status of each reviewed item after workflow transitions are completed. Baselines created this way include the finalized suffix.

    10.png
    Finalized example.png
  • Moderators can now edit categories while modifying an item in a review.

    12.png
  • A new Organization Admin > Reviews setting for approval reviews keeps Finalize approval review disabled until all approvers complete the review. Once all approvers have completed the review, the moderator can then select the option to finalize and close the review.
new approval review option.png
  • You can now initiate a review from a baseline. Accelerate incremental reviews by comparing approved baselines with current content.

    14.png

  • Moderators now add participants to sequential approval reviews. Moderators can also assign users and groups to stages in an approval review, ensuring that participants review content in the required order. Each stage begins after the previous stage is complete, helping teams route approvals efficiently and involve later reviewers only when needed.

Participants receive notifications when their stage becomes active. For group participants, one group member can claim the review and sign on behalf of the group. If a participant rejects the content, the review returns to the first stage when the next revision begins.

    Sequential review.png
  • Reviews now include Restricted Access Mode, an optional organization-level setting that limits review participation and sharing based on item access.

    Org admin enable review center.png

When enabled by an organization admin, Restricted Access Mode:

  • Limits review participation to users and groups with access to every item in the review.
  • Hides details about related items or relationships that participants can't access. This helps teams collaborate on sensitive or segmented content while maintaining established access boundaries.
  • Disables public links, limited-public access, external invitations, email-only invitations, and REST API access to new reviews.
  • Applies to new reviews and participant changes in existing reviews. Existing reviews aren't updated automatically unless the participant list is edited.
  • A new checklist feature in reviews allows moderators to add a checklist when creating an approval or peer review, and reviewers can complete it during the approval process. This feature brings compliance checks into the workflow that teams already use to review and approve product requirements, validations, and other project artifacts.

      Moderators can:

  • Apply a checklist to the entire review or to each item in the review.
  • View each participant’s responses on the Checklist Stats page.

Live Compliance

This release introduces Live Compliance, a new capability that integrates compliance activities into the day-to-day product development and review process. You can manage regulatory, quality, and internal-process compliance alongside your existing requirements and validation work in Jama Connect.

Create configurable checklists for regulatory standards, quality processes, or internal policies, then group related checklists into reusable compliance frameworks. These frameworks help teams apply consistent compliance across projects and reviews.

During reviews, participants can complete checklist questions and, when configured, add notes to support their responses. This process creates a structured, auditable record of compliance activities and reduces reliance on separate spreadsheets, documents, and manual tracking.

image-IVkbiNZjLx.png

The new Live Compliance dashboard provides a current view of compliance status across reviews and checklists. Compliance teams, engineering leaders, and auditors can monitor progress, identify incomplete or noncompliant work earlier, and gather supporting evidence more efficiently.

By surfacing compliance gaps during development, Live Compliance can reduce late-stage rework, certification delays, and audit preparation effort.

image-ajar0V3KOY.png

New permission controls help organizations manage who can create and administer project-level or global checklists and frameworks, participate in compliance reviews, and view dashboard results. Access depends on each users’ project access and applicable licensing.

Introducing Jama Connect Webhooks

Jama Connect Webhooks send real-time HTTPS notifications to registered endpoints when supported events occur in Jama Connect. This reduces the need to repeatedly poll the REST API for changes.

Use webhooks to keep downstream systems, automation platforms, and collaboration tools up to date when Jama Connect data changes. For example, you can trigger a workflow when an item changes, notify a connected system when a review is published, or start an integration process when relationship or baseline data changes.

Configure webhook subscriptions

Configure webhook endpoints and subscriptions through Jama Connect Interchange. After you register and verify an endpoint, create subscriptions for the events relevant to your workflow.

Supported events

You can subscribe to the following event types.

Receive Event Notifications

Jama Connect Webhooks send HTTPS POST requests with structured event metadata, including the event type and timestamp. Each payload includes resource data that corresponds to the related Jama Connect REST API response.

Security and Permissions Notice

Jama Connect Webhooks use system-level access rather than an individual user’s permissions. Payload data isn’t filtered by user-level access rights. Make sure your receiving endpoint and downstream applications enforce appropriate access controls and data-handling policies.

Jama Connect MCP™

You can now configure Jama Connect MCP as a custom plugin for LLMs like ChatGPT. Jama Connect MCP supports two authentication options:

  • OAuth service provided by Jama Connect
  • Customer-provided OAuth through your organization’s identity provider

When you use Jama Connect’s OAuth service, you can customize access-token and refresh-token expirations.

  • You can now convert up to 5,000 items at a time, increased from the previous limit of 1,000 items.

Updates to the Categories feature

Category management now supports automatically applying categories to new content, filtering projects by up to five categories, and including category-related admin activity when duplicating projects.

Automatically Apply Categories to New Items

When filtering by category, you can now choose to automatically apply the selected categories to any new component, set, item, or folder created within that filtered view. This option helps keep new content categorized consistently so that it appears in the appropriate filtered results as soon as it is created.

Screenshot 2026-06-23 at 1.17.56 PM.png

Category-based Project Organization

Users can now organize and focus project content with category-based filtering. Apply up to five categories at a time to narrow project views to items that match any selected category, similar to a category filter with multiple OR conditions.

When a category filter is applied, Jama Connect preserves the user’s current context while narrowing results in List View and Document View. Users can change the active category variant at any time to apply a different view, and clear active category filters when they're no longer needed.

Create Nested Categories

Organization admins can now create nested categories to organize content in a clear, hierarchical structure.

Screenshot 2026-09-15 at 2.21.15 PM.png

Configure Item Versioning for Category Management

Organization admins can now configure items to create a new version when categories are changed.

Note: This new option can only be enabled when "Allow management for locked items" is not enabled.

Screenshot 2026-09-24 at 7.27.25 AM.png

Reuse and Sync Categories

Category Sync is now available in Full Item Sync, Field-Level Sync, and Item Type Advanced Reuse.

Category differences appear in Detailed Comparison and contribute to the Out-of-Sync status. When you select Category Sync, categories in the target project are updated to match the source, including removing categories that are no longer present. Existing requirements for synchronization eligibility, branches, organizations, and persistence modes continue to apply.

Project-Level Category Management

Project admins can now create and manage categories in individual projects without requiring assistance from organization admins.
