Summary
When importing, a Microsoft Word (.docx) 'hangs' during the parsing stage (for example, after clicking Next on the mapping options screen), resulting in a blank/unresponsive screen with no visible error. The same Word document and import settings work when importing into other item types, but consistently failed when importing into a specific custom item type/set.
Resolution
This issue was resolved by deleting the impacted sets, running Project Cleanup and Project Reindex, recreating the set(s), and re-running the import.
Delete the impacted set(s) from the Explorer Tree
- Delete the set for the problematic item type
Run Project Cleanup and Reindex
- In the project Admin area, run Cleanup for the project.

Recreate the set
- Create a brand-new set using the intended item type.
Re-run the Word import

Import the same .docx again using the desired options (including options like IMPORTSECTION and table parsing, if applicable).
