Summary

You have individuals outside your organization (e.g., vendors or consultants) who need access to Jama Connect®  to perform work. This article describes how Jama Connect®  admins can safely grant access to limited data.

Resolution

Create Account

Any user of Jama Connect®  must have a user account in Jama.  Setting up a user account for a 3rd party user depends on how Jama is configured:

Scenario Jama Configuration Scenario 3rd Party Access to Jama

1

Jama is setup using its own built-in authentication and is hosted in the Cloud Users can be added just like internal users with no special considerations

2

Jama is setup using its own built-in authentication and is self-hosted on-premises Users need to have VPN access to your organization, but the user account can be added just like internal users

3

Jama is setup using SAML-based single-sign-on and Jama is hosted in the Cloud.   Users need to be a member of your organization’s Identify Provider before an account can be created in Jama

4

Jama is setup using SAML-based single-sign-on and Jama is hosted on-premises  Users need to be a member of your organization’s Identify Provider before an account can be created in Jama an will need VPN access to connect to Jama

Assign License

The license assigned depends on the access level needed:

License Type Access Needed
Reviewer Only views and comments on Reviews where they were invited
Stakeholder Need to view project content, but only to read and comment. Access may be limited to just small sections of a project
Test Runner Read access to projects and can execute test cases and log defects
Creator Need to view and create new or edit existing content. Access may be limited to just small sections of a project

Setup Permissions

Step 1: In Admin > Permissions, add the user (or user group) to have read-only permissions on the project to grant access

Step 2: Remove permissions from any Component or Set within the project tree where they should not have access.

3rd Party View (data limited based on permissions)
