Summary

Jama does not support an in-application rollback after an upgrade has been completed. Once an environment is upgraded (for example, from 9.22.1 to 9.22.4), there is no built-in mechanism to revert to the previous version.

A downgrade is only possible if a complete database and file system backup was taken prior to the upgrade. Without a validated pre-upgrade backup, reverting to the earlier version is not possible.

Best Practice:
Before performing any upgrade, ensure a full database and file system backup is taken.

Resolution

If a pre-upgrade backup is available, the downgrade process requires:

  1. Uninstalling the current upgraded version (e.g., 9.22.4).
  2. Reinstalling the previous version (e.g., 9.22.1)
  3. Restoring:
    • The database from the backup taken prior to the upgrade.
    • The application file system from the same backup set.
  4. Validating system functionality after restoration.

If no pre-upgrade backup exists, a rollback to the previous version is not supported.

Note: Depending on your license type, if you are using an internet-based license, you may need to pin or revert the license to the previous version before performing the downgrade. Please reach out to the Support team for assistance with reverting or aligning your license version.
