Summary
After migrating from Data Exchange to Jama Connect Interchange™ for ReqIF imports and exports, you may need to continue an existing round-trip exchange that was originally initiated in Data Exchange.
This article explains how to configure a new conversation in Jama Connect Interchange™ that matches existing items using previously generated ReqIF IDs. Because Jama Connect Interchange™ does not accept Data Exchange mapping files, you must recreate mappings before initiating the import.
Resolution
Follow the steps below to continue a ReqIF round-trip exchange that was initiated in Data Exchange.
- Log in to Jama Connect Interchange™. In the top navigation bar, click Connectors and confirm that your Jama Connect® instance is connected and active.
- If your Jama Connect® instance is not connected, click Add Connector in the upper-right corner of the screen to create a new connection.
- Enter a name for the connector. This name is visible only to Jama Connect Interchange™ users.
- Enter the Base URL for your Jama Connect® instance, select the authentication type, and provide the service account credentials.
- Click Save. Jama Connect Interchange™ tests the connection and displays an error message if the connection fails.
- In the top navigation bar, click Conversations to view and manage your data exchange conversations.
- Click Add Conversation to start creating a new data exchange conversation.
- Select the external tool you want to exchange data with.
- Click Save
- Select the Jama Connect® instance where you want to import or export ReqIF files.
- Click Next
- Choose the project in which you want to import or export ReqIF files.
- Click Next.
- Enter a descriptive name for the conversation so Jama Connect Interchange™ users can easily identify it.
- Click Submit
- Click Import
- Click Additional settings
- In Additional Settings, set Round Trip to Use round trip ID matching.
- Enter the display name of the Jama Connect® field that stores the ReqIF IDs previously generated by Data Exchange. This is typically a field such as External ID or ReqIF ID.
- Click Save
- Click Upload and select the ReqIF file containing the updates you want to import.
- Click Select Location and choose where in the project you want to import the updates.
- Recreate all item type, field, and relationship mappings. Jama Connect Interchange™ does not accept mapping files generated by Data Exchange. For detailed guidance on creating mappings, see the Jama Connect Interchange Help Guide
After all mappings are complete, click Initiate Import. When prompted, select Update existing items to apply updates rather than importing new items.
- Monitor the import progress on the Logs tab of the conversation. Jama Connect Interchange™ matches each item in the ReqIF file to existing items in the Jama Connect® project using the specified ReqIF ID field.
