Batch Edit of Item Titles (Name Field)

Summary 

This article explains the supported options for performing bulk updates on items in Jama, specifically:

• Updating item titles (Name field) in bulk
• Updating values to Description or other text fields field across multiple items

Solution 

You can achieve this using the Roundtrip export/import process:

1. Export the relevant items using Export > View All Export Options > Excel Export for Roundtrip
2. Update the Name column in the exported Excel file as needed (for example, prepend "Obsolete – " to the existing titles).
3. Import the updated Excel file back into Jama and ensure the Roundtrip option is selected.

This approach allows controlled bulk updates while preserving data integrity.

Cause 

Jama does not support bulk editing of the Title (Name) field directly through the UI
