Use Case

Synchronising and integrating the Assigned To fields between Jama Connect and other tools (e.g., X-Ray, Q-Test, TestRail, Jira, etc.).

Synching of people-related fields can be problematic if you have different user bases for both systems (e.g. maybe I have an account in Jama Connect but not the other tool). Additionally, some tools have multi-select user fields, whereas Jama Connect has a single-select user field.

Best Practice

Pick one tool as the Assigned To "system of record” and then in the other tool, have a read-only free-text field to receive that data as a comma-separated list of names.

Implementation

1. Create a free-text field in Jama Connect called <Other tool name> Assignees. Make it read-only and allow API overwrite.
2. In your integration tool, sync the multiple assignees to that read-only text field in Jama Connect as a comma-separated list of people.
