Summary
When the number of assigned licenses exceeds the allocation for an instance, affected users may encounter the following errors:
Error:
[com.jamasoftware.contour.service.impl.AdminServiceImpl] - OUT OF COMPLIANCE LICENSE TYPES FOR ORG 2: -COLLABO-
or
[com.jamasoftware.contour.service.impl.AdminServiceImpl] - OUT OF COMPLIANCE LICENSE TYPES FOR ORG 2: -NAMED-
Solution
Cloud Instances
Contact the support team if unexpected over-assignments occur and admins cannot access the licenses.
The support team can resolve the issue using root access.
Self-Hosted Instances
Root admins should adjust license assignments or removals directly to ensure the total matches the allocated number.
Confirm successful login after making changes.
Cause
This issue occurs when the number of assigned creator licenses exceeds the number of owned licenses (e.g., 12 assigned but only 11 owned). This discrepancy prevents users from logging in.
Prevention
Regularly monitor license assignments to ensure they do not exceed the number of owned licenses.
Additional Information/Metadata
When all licenses are fully consumed, creating or assigning a license to a new user will display the license as greyed out in the UI. This indicates that no additional licenses are available until the quota is updated or licenses are freed.
In some edge cases, the number of assigned licenses may exceed the allocated limit, causing unexpected errors and UI issues.
