Summary
This article explains how to hide or disable tag creation for projects and item types in Jama Connect®.
Solution
Tags can be hidden in the Project Tree View, but users may still add or remove tags directly on individual items. To entirely prevent tag creation, you must disable the Tags widget for each applicable item type.
Important: Disabling tags for an item type does not delete existing tag data. Tags remain in the database and will reappear if tag creation is re-enabled later.
Please review the instructions below for guidance on hiding tags in the project tree.
- First, navigate and select the Projects tab located in the navigation bar.

Then click the Change Layout icon.

When clicked, the Project Panel Settings window will appear. Select the Default Settings tab. Then locate and uncheck the checkbox labeled Tags.
Please refer to the instructions below on how to disable tag creation for a specific item type.

First, navigate and select the Admin tab located in the navigation bar.

Under the Organization tab, locate and select Item Types.

Find the item type and select Edit under the Action column.

When clicked, the Edit Item Type window will appear. In the Widgets section, please make sure that Tags is listed in the Inactive Widgets box.
If the Tags widget is listed in the Active Widgets box (shown in Figure 1), simply click the X to move the widget to the Inactive Widgets box (shown in Figure 2). Please refer to the example, using the Epic item type, provided below.
