Summary

The Quick Filters allow for the refinement of the items being displayed in either Document or List views. These items could be displayed as part of a Set or other Container or as the results from a Filter. The Quick Filter feature allows you to refine by author, keyword, date, or coverage, but it does not allow you to select other fields to filter on. However, Full Text search is available in the Keyword which can be used to search for a text in the item or a values in a specific field.

You can search for individual words, exact phrases, multiple terms, and values in specific fields. Keyword search is useful when the information you need is not represented by one of the selectable Quick Filters.

Use Keyword search in Quick Filters when you want to:

  • Find items with a specific value in a field that is not available in the filter sidebar.
  • Narrow a large set of requirements, test cases, or other items based on a keyword or custom field value
  • Combine a keyword search with other available Quick Filters to refine your results.

Search for a Value in a Field

To use the Full Search feature for a displayed set of items, click on the Quick Filter using the Filter Items icon.

For example, if you wanted to filter a Set of items for a specific Status value, use the syntax documented help to write a filter that uses the Status field name and the value you want to refine by. Hit the Enter to apply.

A statement like status:"draft" can also be combined with other statements using logical operators or a '-' can be used to find items that do not match that criteria. Additionally, that keyword sea can be combined with any of the other criteria available in the quick filter sidebar.

Here only the items of Stakeholder Requirement type, where the Status value is anything other than Draft.

Important considerations

  • Searching by field requires underscores where field label has spaces (e.g., a field called Acceptance Criteria can be searched using acceptance_criteria:”abc”)
  • The application doesn't support searches for null values. This includes checkboxes that haven't been checked.
  • Attachments are searched using search bar or filter matching “all item types” ⎼Files over 25 MB aren't indexed so their content isn't searchable.
    • The following file types are indexable: PDF, DOC, DOCX, PPT, PPTX, TXT, RTF.
    • The following file types are not indexable: XLSX, XLS, XML, HTML, HTM.

The Jama Help Guide contains the syntax rules for the Keyword search box and can be used as a reference.
