Summary

Some actions performed through the Jama Connect Model Context Protocol (MCP) add a comment to an item's version history, while others do not.

For example, creating or updating an item adds an MCP-generated comment such as:

Created with Jama Connect MCP.

However, creating relationships between items does not add an MCP comment.

This behavior is expected. MCP comments are added only for actions that create a new version of an item.

Resolution

MCP-generated comments are recorded only for actions that create or modify an item's version.

You will see an MCP comment for actions such as:

  • Creating an item
  • Updating an item

You will not see an MCP comment for actions such as:

  • Creating relationships between items

Creating a relationship is completed successfully, but does not create a new version of either item. Because no new item version is created, no MCP-generated comment is added to the item's version history.

If you are reviewing an item's version history for MCP activity, remember that MCP comments are recorded only for operations that create a new item version.
