Diagram Editor Shape Panels Not Loading

Summary

Users may notice that when using the Diagram Editor (accessed via the "Add/edit diagram" icon in a rich text field, such as an item's Description), some shape panels under "More Shapes..." appear empty. For example, a user may load the SysML shape library and find that panels such as Blocks or Ports and Flows show no shapes, while Model Elements loads correctly.

Resolution

This happens because the Diagram Editor stops loading additional shape panels once a certain number have been opened in one session, even if some of those panels are later closed. The exact number depends on which shape sets are opened, but the behaviour is consistent for the same sequence of actions. 

Two things help:

1. Open only the shape panels you need. Avoid browsing through many shape panels one after another in the same session. Go directly to the panels required for your diagram.
2. If panels are already failing to load, close and reopen the Diagram Editor. Save and close the diagram editor window, then reopen it. This resets the session and shape panels should load correctly again.
