Summary

Share Jama Connect item links so the e-mail or chat message displays the item’s name (friendly text) instead of the raw URL, reducing manual re-formatting.

Resolution

Leverage Jama Connect’s comment + @mention workflow—which automatically embeds the item name as the hyperlink text in notification e-mails—to distribute readable, self-describing links. For external channels that accept rich text (Outlook, Teams), copy the formatted link from the e-mail and paste; for plain-text channels, include the item ID or short name alongside the URL.

Step Action Result / Rationale
1 Open the target item (or set) and click Comment. Starts a context-specific discussion thread.
2 Type “@” and begin entering the item name or ID; select it from the auto-complete list. Jama Connect inserts a smart reference tag (@Item Name) that resolves to the item URL.
3 Add any explanatory note, then Post Comment. Notification e-mail is triggered to followers/reviewers.
4 In the received e-mail, confirm the link shows as blue underlined item name (not the raw URL).(Optional) Copy this rich-text link to Outlook / Teams / Docs. Provides a friendly display link in downstream communications.
5 Train teams: “Use @mentions for shareable links” & include the pattern in onboarding decks. Ensures consistent, readable link sharing across the organization.
Tip: In plain-text tools that strip formatting (e.g., Slack in plain-text mode), paste "ItemName (Jama Connect ID 1234): <full URL>" so recipients still see a meaningful label.
