Summary
When images from rich text fields are exported from Jama Connect, they will match the same size they appear in Jama. To control image sizing in exported documents, you can either resize images before export or use one of the solutions outlined below.
If you frequently need consistent image sizing, using a Velocity report or a Word macro may save time.
Solution
Office Templates (Word):
- Manually resize images after exporting
- Add a macro to your template to resize images automatically when the file is opened
Velocity Reports:
- Configure image resizing directly in the report definition so they export at the desired size
Cause
By default, Jama Connect exports images at the same dimensions displayed in the rich text field of an item.
Prevention
- Resize the image in Jama Connect before exporting:
- Enter Edit Mode for the item.
- Double-click the image.
- Adjust the Width and Height as desired.
- Click OK to save.
2. Set max image size in the Admin tab*
- As an Organization Admin, go to the Admin tab > Details > Edit
- Modify the "Rich text image max width (px):" field
- Leaving max height as "0" will allow any vertical size
-
Adding a constraint on width (e.g., 600-700 pixels) means Jama will shrinks all images embedded into rich text fields to that max width automatically
- This may take some trial and error, but ~700 pixels generally fits most vertical oriented pages well
*NOTE: This change does not affect existing images. It will only apply to images added after changing the max-width setting.
