Use Case

Configure OAuth Credentials for Jama Connector

Best Practice

Using OAuth credentials in the Jama Connector for Jama Connect Interchange has many advantages that ensure connector uptime. With Basic Authentication (Username + Password), an admin unknowingly updating the credentials for the JCI user will cause the JCI integration to fail due to authentication issues. Additionally, too invalid authentication requests with basic authentication can lead to the JCI user becoming locked. Avoiding these issues by using OAuth credentials improve connector uptime.

Implementation

Login to Jama Connect as the JCI user and navigate to the user profile.

In the profile windows, select "Set API Credentials"

Enter a name for your new credentials and select "Create API Credentials"

After selecting create API credentials, Client ID and Client Secret will be generated. These credentials will be needed for JCI.
IMPORTANT: Make sure to take note of your Client Secret now as it will not appear again

Log into Jama Connect Interchange with an admin account. Select the Connector Tab and Add Connector Button

In the Add Connector Screen, configure the Jama Connect settings, set authentication type as OAuth and enter the Client ID and Client Secret, then save.
