This is a known issue with Microsoft unrelated to Contour - but affecting the display of images within generated Word and HTML documents.  Jama is working with Microsoft to resolve or determine a workaround.

Steps to reproduce:

• Choose any browser as long as IE8 and/or SP3 is installed
• Run report on set with items that have images (Features New on hosted)
• Close Word
• Run same report 2nd time
• Images won't show - get red x's
• Attempt to save Word doc will kill Word completely

Note: Some of our test instances display an invalid session error instead

There are certain scenarios that can cause Internet Explorer to display a long running script error.

Areas where this can occur:

1. Org admin Admin, JIRA Connector, Opening the edit field mappings window within the same session reopening the mappings window.
2. Creating or editing filters with a large volume of users
3. Browsing or opening items with a large volume of check boxes - such as editing an item with multiple user components or multi-select components with many items.
4. After using the system from the user perspective, changing to the admin perspective often displays the message.

This is a known issue with the check box component used with user selection, set selection and JIRA field mapping.  These are being replaced with an alternate widget that should eliminate this issue.

For Word DOCX files that contain Word fields that are populated from document properties, the text in the Word fields is ignored on import.

Example attached:
Under Transaction Confirmations, the description block contains two fields, one filled in with "Centre" (Field: SiteCentre) and one filled in with "Patient" (Field: PatientSubject).

 

The text gets imported as:

There are several different scenarios. Each scenario needs to be documented to provide users the tools necessary to achieve the desired result or to understand what the result will be.

Text Field: Data entered with xml tags <>, quotes, commas, umlauts etc.

Importing a cvs-file displays the error.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Under Contour Admin, create a new new item type
2. Add a set to a project of the new item type
3. Import a CSV test file
4. Contour displays the error "error trying to serialize path: [documentGroup.project.projectManage.avatar] NO IMPORT POSSIBLE" on Step 3 (Verify First Item).

Workaround: Users may click on submit in Step 3 after closing the error popup and the file will import sucessfully.

Issues with the multi-select custom field type:

1. Import Wizard does not save defaults set on multi-select field types
2. When editing an item, the multi select and other custom fields when changed do not create auto-generated version comments
3. Canceling out of edit does not clear multi-select
4. It would be helpful if item's in a set field is rendered as a link to the item when displayed in read only mode

Steps to reproduce:
- Select on a filter or set for an Item Type that has modifiedBy and modifiedDate fields
- Perform Batch Update for this item
- Check  modifiedby and modifiedDate fields

Bug:  The modifiedby and modifiedDate fields are not updated.
Expected value: User name of current user in modifiedBy and date when batch update was performed in modifiedDate

Relate panel - "Default Settings" modifications

1. Currently default settings are only stored in the current session which is not maintained after logging out or closing the browser. Users have requested that the scope of this be changed such that there are two levels of persistence. System defaults which can be set by the administrator and user defaults which are then persisted when the user returns.
2. Regarding status of a relationships:
   1. Set a Relationships type to use the status attributes.
   2. Navigate to an item that contains a relationship of the above type.
   3. Edit the relationship and switch to a type that does not uses the status attribute.
   4. The status field for the relationship is not cleared out so it will continue to be displayed.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Adjust date format by logging in by system administrator (root user) and update general properties) to an international date format
2. Log into Cotour and select an item with a date field
3. The date displays correctly in read only mode, click edit
4. Edit the date field and the date picker widget does not display the correct format.

Proposed solution for large volumes of relationships is to improve performance, limit initial number of relationships returned and display a loading indicator.

When sending an email to a specific item via "Action > Email Link", the session ID gets sometimes added to the URL in the email.  This bug only occurs sporadically, i.e. most of the times it works as intended, but sometimes the session ID gets included in the URL.

Contour Version: 2.6.2

When making a copy of a project, not all check boxes are completely visible in the "Copy Project" window. No scroll bars are available to scroll down to the hidden check boxes.

This is version 2.8, using IE8 as the browser. Screen shot attached.

Note that it is possible to resize the window in order to reach the hidden check boxes, but it seems that the window should still open to the correct size (like most others do) or show a scroll bar if it is not able to open large enough to contain all of the elements.

Currently "subscribe to selected" works when a single item is selected, but is not always available when multiple items are selected.  Ensure that all menus provide this as an option when multiple items are selected.

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 is the latest version.  Add test for MS SQL Server Express which is the same code base but limited in database size, report results and update documentation.

Note:  This was completed, intial tests passed, documentation still needs to be updated.

1. Create several items that have a description field which is text only. (No Rich Text)
2. Add text that has quotes.
3. Create a report that uses Contour encodeTextToHTML method
4. Run a velocity report that displays the text in Word 2003
5. Word sometimes shows quotes as &pos; rather than true quotes.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Perform a batch update for selected items
2. Enter a comment, of substantial length.  For example "A test of the batch update comment to test what happens when I add a comment"
3. Go to one of the items updated in the batch
4. The Edit activity appears in the Item Activity stream as expected
5. The Comment from above has a line break where it shouldn't.

Steps to reproduce.

1. Create an item
2. Log in as a different user
3. Modify the item
4. Compare and you will notice that the comapre window transposes the users in the modified by field.

Note: only a problem when comparing item right next to each other.

IE 7 & 8 can upload attachments but it cannot download them.  Firefox 3.x - 3.x can both upload and download attachments.

Users intermittently get an error message of "html editor cannot be found" when trying to add or open an item in Contour.

When a change occurs on an item that is related upstream to an item that exist in a separate project. The downstream item in the other project is not flagged as suspect. The expected result is that all immediate downstream items including items across projects should be flagged as suspect when the upstream item changes.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Navigate to an item that has relationships to other items
2. Click on the relationships tab
3. Right click an item to see the menu
4. Click on one of the related items so that it opens in a new tab
5. Click on the relationships tab of the new item
6. Right Click an item to see the menu. 

Users pasting in large documents (typically MS Word) into a Contour rich text field that exceeds 100 MB of data causes performance issues and display issues.  Add a system property that defines the maximum length for these fields.

The batch update email template displays a code placeholder for document type and should also remove HTML from the comment text.

Certain text lables used in the explorer tree, relationships tab can be quite long.  While monitor and screen sizes play a role in the space available to display these, it would be nice if Contour could take the display size into account and trim/shorten the titles.
 

If a Contour license key is generated and the number of floating licenses is left empty and the customer has pre-existing users assigned to a floating license, they will receive a JavaScript error upon login.

Workaround:  Contact Jama to recieve a replacement license key with a zero entry in that field.

Steps to Reproduce:

1) Open Item / Relationship Tab
2) Open Open Relate for linking Requirements
3) Link items (items will be linked - message relation saved)
6) Link same items (items will not be linked because they are already linked - message relation saved)

Suggested solution:
Either remove items that already have relationships created from the relate panel, disable items that are already linked, or inform the user the items are already linked.

Currently the process of resorting or updating the outline numbering and global sort order is performed manually.  When new items are added to a set, they will have several values (in the database) that are null until the "update headings" button or a report that calls this routine is run.  It would be beneficial to have Contour handle the sorting and reordering automatically with new items assigned values corresponding to their location.  This is mainly to simplify usage and for reporting purposes.

When the activity stream was released, batch update events were excluded as they generate a large volume of events.  The intended flow is to have Contour log a single actvity of "Batch Update" at the project scope activity stream, individual activities at the item scope.  Currently the activities are recorded at the item level as planned but not at the project level.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Batch update a number of items
2. Refresh Project Home > Activity Stream (no filter set in My Settings or All Activities)
3. The batch update event does not appear.

The Breadcrumb trail displays markup characters such as &nbsp.  It should render as HTML or remove these characters.

In Contour admin, when creating a new item type administrators are able to create the new type with no components selected.  In this case, Contour by default includes 3 components rather than no components.
